Surf Haven is a 1920’s mid-Terrace house, modernised with guest bedrooms on the mezzanine, first and second floors. The property has recently been refurbished to offer five attractive and bright rooms maintaining many original features such as dado rails and ceiling cornices.
All rooms have en-suite showers, (with two superior rooms offering both a bath and shower facility), TVs, Tea and coffee making facilities, silent bar fridges and clock radios.
Surf Haven is situated in a terrace road easily accessible from the A39 Atlantic Highway.
There is a regular local service, Bus 128 from Stratton to Bude, which covers surrounding villages. Bude Town Centre is within 5 minutes walking distance with numerous bus stops on this route.
Arriving by car
Whether you are arriving from the North or South, the key route to Bude is the A39, follow directions to Crooklets Beach and Downs View – overlooking the Bude Golf Course. Car Parking is available in our own private car park at the back of the house. However, access is on an unadopted road and is a little bumpy. Alternative free parking is available at the front of the property, opposite Surf Haven’s main entrance. Our Find Us page provides detailed directions to help you locate us.
There is an entrance gate at street level which opens onto a slope (3.38 metres long) for ease of wheeling luggage to the main entrance door. There are two patio seating areas for guests in the front area on the left and right of the main door. There is a small entrance lip (10cm) at the front door.
The entrance hallway is carpeted. Just beyond this is the main carpeted staircase to the mezzanine, first and second floors. The staircase has steps which are 10.5cm deep and there are 18 steps in total to first floor. There are two steps down from here to the mezzanine level.
Standard Double (Bedroom 5, Mezzanine) – Room size is approx. 19 sq. metres with an en-suite shower. The step into the shower is 10.2cm high and has round sliding shower doors as well as a heated towel rail and vinyl flooring.
On the first floor landing with the staircase to your left is a corridor to Rooms 4 and 3.
Superior Twin (Bedroom 4, First Floor) on your right – Room size is approx. 24 sq. metres with additional en-suite bath and shower facility. The bath height is 50.1cm and has a swing glass door for the shower facility as well as a heated towel rail and vinyl flooring
Superior Super King (Bedroom 3, First Floor) on your left – Room size is approx. 24 sq. metres with additional en-suite large shower room. The step into the shower is 20.3cm high and has a sliding shower door as well as a heated towel rail, twin basins and vinyl flooring.
A further 13 steps then lead up to a half landing and a further 2 steps up to the second floor landing.
Superior Twin (Bedroom 2, Second Floor) on your right – Room size is approx. 18 sq. meters with a large ensuite, which is approx. 11 sq. meters, with bath and separate large walk-in shower. The bath height is 55cm as well as heated towel rail, hand basin and vinyl flooring
Superior Double (Bedroom 1, Second Floor) on your left – Room size is approx. 16 sq. meters, and leading to a dressing room which is approx. 5 sq. meters. Large ensuite shower room, approx. 10 sq. meters. Large walk-in shower, with sliding door as well as a heated towel rail, hand basin and vinyl flooring.
There are no bedrooms on the ground floor.
The breakfast room and dining area are on the ground floor level, with no steps between there and the entrance hall.
In Case Of Fire
There are break glass boxes and a fire extinguishers available in case of fire on the ground floor at the main entrance door, beside the dining room and on the first floor, outside Bedroom 5. There is a call point and fire extinguisher on the half landing, between first and second floor.
If there is a fire, all guests are to make their way directly down the main staircase and out to the front entrance patio area.
We are not suitable for wheelchair users or guests with severe mobility restrictions.
Please advise of any specific dietary requirements before arrival, and we shall endeavour to provide wherever possible.
We do our utmost to be as eco-friendly as possible. Energy saving lightbulbs are used throughout the property. We re-cycle all waste paper, cardboard, glass and plastic bottles. We strive to minimise energy usage, and use fresh, local produce, and invest in the community we love.
We are unable to accommodate pets.
